Yes. It would be much less expensive to use a common kitchen chair and rope.

The Houdini Chair - This example inspires some thoughts. I love the idea, it looks cool and would be a fun chair cover used to create atmosphere.
As a bondage device? Well, I don’t think that was the intent. However, with some thought and some modification, a very evil device could be created!
