I don't worry about online privacy in the sense of people getting my address or other personal details because I always edit my privacy settings to only allow people I know personally (i.e. real life friends) to see them, and I never give out personal details like phone numbers, etc to people I don't know.
When it comes to people I know finding me on sites like Fetlife it doesn't bother me because they all know that I am living the lifestyle.
Generally I don't think privacy is an issue as long as you're sensible. Always edit the privacy settings, or at least check them, don't give out details to anyone ever. If I need to give out details for someone to contact me (which I haven't but it could happen) I would get a pay as you go SIM and use that number, or set up a different email address.
Privacy is an interesting concern. Many people are worried (for good reason) others aren't (and should be). The funny thing is there isn't a whole lot you can do about what's being gathered, while there's a lot you can do about what you expose to the world.
Here "pay as you go" phones are not quite as popular as they are in other countries (although they're damn useful). Most would opt for an option like Google Voice, a Skype number or other blocking technique.
Thanks for the comment! We'll be touching on this topic in the #Podcast soon.
