The Diversity of Self.

Many of us label ourself and to some extent it’s unavoidable. We call ourself parent, friend, lover, son, employee, master, submissive, etc. However, many of us have several labels that can seem at odds with each other, especially within the kink lifestyle.

I try to avoid some of the labels by calling myself a creative kinkster and I can see how, and why,  some identify as a Switch. In my mind that allows an expression of their interests. It’s one way to change the way others perceive you, both at that given, specific time and in general (eg, ‘I maybe beating on this person but I also like to be dominated’; or ‘I’m getting off on being bound and tormented right now, but I like to tie as much as be tied’).

People who know you soon recognize that your role changes depending on your current burning need or desire, and perhaps how you interact with a specific person, or type of personality. There’s nothing wrong with it. It doesn’t mean you can’t make a decision, nor that you’re still searching for your ‘true role’.

I find it to be an exploration, an acknowledgment of the various sensations, situations and energy flows within the different aspects of our personal dynamics. Embrace it, enjoy it, and be proud.

Pixilated Titillation – have you tried Cyber?

Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Wave, Buzz, Messenger, Yahoo? How many do you use? And, perhaps more importantly, how many do you use to look for/contact partners with?

With online dating, and instant conversations,  I wonder if  ’ The age of deception’  wasn’t reborn?  We are able to chase the partner of our dreams and find them (anywhere in the World), although unless you web-cam, or meet up, the person using pixels could well be deceiving you in some way.  While they could just be shy, they can also be a vastly different age, height, weight, could be a vice-squad sting team looking for pedophiles, or lying about what sex/orientation they are.

Does that really matter? Are you looking for a hookup? Then the truth probably matters a fair bit. If I was wanting sex with a beautiful, younger, athletic, intellectual women I’ve clicked with online and be tapped on the shoulder by Bernard, an older guy with receding hairline, bad teeth and severe B.O. I’d be angered because I’d been lied to, and it’s not what I’m after. I’m pretty open minded and will happily have a conversation with anyone no matter their sexual orientation (pedophiles need not apply) but I also know what pushes my buttons when it comes to arousal.

However, if you’re looking to have your senses stimulated by the above “beautiful, younger, athletic, intellectual women” then if you’re not seeing ‘her’ or actually going to meet up, then who cares if Bernard is getting his rocks off at the same time, pretending to be his alter-ego and swapping deviant desires and getting jiggy with you?

The point is, to look at what you want and create the encounter that satisfies on the level you want/need (and yes, for all involved). Cyber may not be the complete answer to real life sexual and BDSM encounters, but circumstance or ’simple’ shyness may require a release in a more discreet manner. I suggest everyone should at least try cyber. Even if it’s not as fulfilling as you expect or want, it can be a fun option.

After all, isn’t the path to great sex/kink achieved through mental build up of some sort?

Google Buzz and Privacy for Kinks

You have undoubtedly heard about this Slayer of Social Networks. If you’ve been reading the hype, you’ve probably heard about the “Privacy Flaws” hidden within the Buzz. (Excellent Rant, BTW!)Yes…you need to take care with Buzz and you need to go under the hood to tweak the settings. A lot of Sites have already covered that…but I’ll go one step further.

Many of us (Kinksters) have multiple email (Gmail) accounts.

Use the account that is NOT connected to your Vanilla Life!!!

It is that simple.

For example, I got Buzz before most people (don’t ask, Google likes me). Once activated I saw what it did…oh yes, I saw. Immediately I used Google Labs to export my carefully crafted filters into one of my other accounts that was more suited to my Kink Life.

Once complete, I imported the Contacts I wanted into that account.

Voila! Now I was ready to activate Buzz in that account. Bang and Presto! I was buzzing in kink safety.

I also switched the email addresses of any associated accounts (Twitter, etc.) that I was pulling into my Buzz feed to use ONLY the new Gmail address.

Another helpful hint?

I used two browsers (both operating in Privacy Mode) to log into both Gmail accounts simultaneously. This made the above processes MUCH easier and faster to complete.

charlesbennett Arrested TSA worker asked girl to be his sex slaveA Transportation Security Administration employee in Florida is behind bars this weekend after a 15-year-old girl claimed he groped her and asked if she would be his “sex slave,” according to published reports.

Charles Henry Bennett, a 57-year-old TSA worker at Orlando International Airport, is being held without bail after he reportedly confessed to a version of the described events, even acknowledging his shocking request. The girl was allegedly 13 at the time. According to a police report discussed in area media, Bennett allegedly grabbed the girl’s breasts from behind and solicited her.

“It’s unclear exactly where the alleged abuse took place and how Bennett and the girl met, because the arrest report detailing the abuse is heavily redacted,” local news site Florida Today noted.

The arrest was a product of an investigation initiated after the state’s Department of Children and Families was informed of the girl’s allegations, the publication added.

Multiple news agencies cited Bennett’s MySpace page, but none linked readers directly to it. On the page attributed to Bennett, text describes him as “a BDSM Master” with “many years experience in the lifestyle and as a trainer.”

BDSM is an acronym commonly used to refer to sexual fetishes that fall in the bondage, dominance, submission and masochism categories.

“I am very open minded n expect the same from friends. I enjoy meeting new ppl in the lifestyle and those that r curious,” the page adds, concluding that its owner is searching for “Submissive females”.

“Police said the girl was reluctant to provide specific details about the incident and appeared sullen,” NBC affiliate WESH 2 in Orlando reported. “They said she also expressed sorrow at the prospect of Bennett being arrested. While she did not report any other episodes of abuse, she did not deny other acts of sexual assault occurred, the police report said.”

Google Goggles and Privacy?

As if Privacy wasn’t already a complex concern already, here comes the next nightmare for those of us who wish to keep our lives to ourselves.

Facial Recognition is already a fact of life. Law Enforcement, Intelligence and Military organizations have used it for years. It hasn’t hit full public use, yet — but it’s only a matter of time. I for one am not a huge fan of sitting in a room, waiting for a job interview while someone snaps a picture and lets my face do the searching for them.

Does that sound paranoid? Really? I am proud of who and what I am, but it’s my business. If I care to share it with anyone, that’s my business. It is not the business of the corporate world unless I’m purposely doing something to harm those with whom I have a professional relationship.

Below is some basic research on Google Goggles and the reason behind my growing irritation.

  • A picture is worth a thousand words.
  • No need to type your search anymore. Just take a picture.
  • Find out what businesses are nearby. Just point your phone at a store.
  • This is just the beginning – it’s not quite perfect yet.
  • Works well for some things, but not for all.
  • Your pictures, your control. Turn on ‘visual search history’ to view or share your pictures at any time. Turn it off to discard them once the search is done.

Marissa Mayer, vice president of Google’s Search Product and User Experience, revealed to The Telegraph exclusively at LeWeb 2009 in Paris, that Google Goggles will simply ignore people’s faces if people tried to apply the same technology to identify individuals rather than places or objects.
“Until we understand the implications of the facial recognition tool we have decided to make sure we block out people’s faces. We need to really understand how this tool affects people’s privacy and cannot change that decision until we do,” she explained.”

So, obviously it can do it now. Is it cataloging search results for fine-tuning until it’s released?

Google spokesman Anthony House said: ‘We do have the relevant facial recognition technology at our disposal. For instance with our Picasa picture service a user can tag a friend in their photo album and it will search for and tag any other pictures of that person.

‘But we haven’t implemented this on Google Goggles because we want to consider the privacy implications and how this feature might be added responsibly.

‘So if someone uploads a picture of a stranger on Goggles there is no process to identify them and the search will come up with “no matches found.”

‘We will have talks with privacy advocates and consumers before we consider any changes – it may be people want such a service, but we don’t have a rigid timescale on when any decisions will be made.’

The controversy comes as Google CEO Eric Schmidt was lambasted by an Internet Privacy watchdog for some off hand remarks he made to the U.S news channel CNBC.

He was asked whether people should treat Google like a trusted friend. In his answer he said: ‘If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.’

So, decide. Do you like the idea of someone taking a picture of you and being able to see what the Internet has to offer on your face, identity, etc.
